Actor Changes (MK)

Before filming began, we had to make a change in our lead actors due to the fact that in the end they weren't exactly suitable for our style and the theme we were trying to portray. In the end we decided to choose Cam Letts and Jonny Batson to take up the roles. We thought that their friendship would rub off on the theme we were trying to portray and would make the process run a lot easier in regards to making the video look and act exciting alongside our choice of song.

Actual Music Video Idea (KC)

ACTUAL MUSIC VIDEO IDEA
  • After discussing and re-evaluating the aspirations for our Music Video, we came to the conclusion that our original idea of a 1920s, Great Gatsby themed party, won't work out as planned. There are many reasons for this, one of the most crucial reasons is due to the lack of facilities that we need; in order achieve this style. Another significant reason is the financial issue. We aren't able to afford a well executed Music Video that consists of this theme. The Mise en Scene would have to be perfect for out audience to be able to distinguish the theme of our Music Video.
  • The decision that was made, after our discussion, is that we still contain aspects of the 1920s, Great Gatsby theme. The Music Video will be performance and narrative. The performance aspect will be the boys on stage, and the narrative will be the 'lead' lady. It will be based in a 21st Century party where everyone, including the band, will be dressed in modern day clothing (apart from the 'lead' lady). The 'lead' lady's Costume will be a 'classic' 1920s dress that will ineffectively put the spotlight on her and depict the stereotypical idea of the 'classic' girl.
  • We are in the current process in creating a Storyboard of the Music Video, which we will be using when filming. It will give a clearer vision of what will be happening in the Video. There will be precise and concise details (down to the exact second) of which camera angle should be used in which frame and whether it should be performance or narrative.

Researching Costumes and Props (KC)

Through researching costumes and props, we stumbled upon this website which gives information about the fashion in the 1920s. This is useful to us, due to the theme we would like to pursue for the music video. We are able to put this website into use for the 'star girl', we are able to do her hair and make up as accurate as we can to the music video we are basing ours off.

This website http://www.artdecosociety.org/gatsby/f_accessories.htm has areas of different fashion women wore in the 1920s. It gives specific detail about each and every aspect. Ineffectively, this website gives their audience the 'appropriate way' in dressing for a 1920s theme.
