Dear Moderator,
Thank you for taking the time to look through our Blog. I hope you enjoy seeing the progress of our idea evolving into a Music Video. As you will see, we have pursued thorough Research and Planning during this process to ensure the best possible Music Video. I have enjoyed the experience of constructing a Music Video and have learnt many lessons through this process.
Thank You

Evaluation Question 4 Final (KC)
During the
process of creating the Media Product, we have used a variety of media
technologies in the Research, Planning and Evaluation stages. There are many
programmes that have contributed to the product of the Media Product, Advert
and Digipak.
Blogger:
·
Blogger
is the most crucial aspect of our Coursework, for both AS and A2. This
particular programme enables us to upload our work, so that everyone has a way
of accessing it. Blogger allows the user to organise the coursework into order,
so it will be easier to view the work. As you can access the website from any
device, at any time, this makes Blogger the most convenient programme to import
all your work onto. Another significant reason as to why Blogger is vital is
that you are able to upload Videos, Images and Texts.
Twitter:
·
Twitter
was the primary mode of communication when we were in the process of filming
the Music Video. We created a fake Twitter Account dedicated to the Band and
followed any Artists that are relatable to genre of the Band we have been
inspired from. Furthermore, we took images of the Actors during the events when
we were filming. Similarly, we communicated
with our teachers (mainly on this social networking site), where we asked for
advice and were given guidance on the filming stage of the Music Video.
Scribd:
·
This
is another way of uploading your work onto the Blog. This programme is mainly
used for Word Documents; it is easier to use this as Blogger can be unreliable
in keeping with the alignment of the texts/pictures.
Photoshop:
·
This
particular programme is familiar to us, as we used this for the construction of
our AS Magazine. This year it was used to help construct the Advert and
Digipak. Many of the effects and tools that are available have helped create
the 1920’s theme that was intended. This has solidified my knowledge on Photoshop,
as it has made me confident through using the programme for specific needs.
Illustrator:
·
Illustrator
helped to construct the Retro Design. The step by step guide for making the
design has enabled me to understand the programme easier.
Final Cut Pro X:
·
This
was the most vital aspect through editing the music video, for out video it is
evident that the effects available on this particular programme saved the final
version. I learnt many things using this programme and it was educational. My
knowledge on editing music, footage and text has all expanded and the software
will become useful in the future. Final Cut Pro X is extremely professional and
is perfect for editing a Music Video on.
IMac:
·
We
were required to use this piece of technology in order to access the programme
‘Final Cut Pro X’.
HD Handi Cam:
·
This
camera gave us the advantage of being able to film more shots freely; this
enabled the footage to be the best quality as possible. This gave us the
experience of using a camera, for a music video, and get used to the way it
worked.
Shoulder Mount:
·
The
shoulder mount was used to secure the handi cam, so that it would prevent any
chance of the camera falling and breaking. As it was secure, the footage would
come out more firmly, as it would overcome the natural shakiness that occurs
when you hold a camera.

Weekly Reflection Post: 8-12/12/2014 (KC)
Michelle and I stayed after school to ensure that any finishing touchings were made before we uploaded the Music Video. Our teachers came in and reviewed the Music Video and gave us tips on where to improve. Effects were heavily incorporated during this process. We were granted an extension, which enabled us the time to perfect the Music Video.
We were able to add in any effects to make the Music Video look as professional as possible. Due to the lack of right angles we had to improvise and use more front, mid shot angles in order to recover the oddness. By Thursday 11th, we had the Video uploaded and onto You Tube. We then noticed another problem and that was the audio was too loud, and it hurt the viewers ears. So we re uploaded the Music Video and improved the quality of the sound.

Inspiration for Editing Music Video (MK&KC)
After watching a recently released Music Video by Olly Murs, we decided that we liked the Mirror effect (00:44) that they have edited in his new song 'Wrapped Up'. We have also taken inspiration from the costumes, he is wearing a plain shirt, tucked in some jeans/casual trousers with a belt.

Editing Update (10/12/2014) (MK&KC)
We spent time after school adding the finishing touches to our video which included effects and make it more fast paced. After showing our teachers what we had produced so far, they were able to give helpful advice and guidance on how to improve it. Due to the lack of performance angles, we were advised to edit in as many effects as possible to create excitement and so it would fit in with the genre of music. We used features such as: Ken Burns, Crop, Filters and Mirroring the clips. We tried to amplify the lyrics more by adding in these specific needs. After following the guidance, we have noticed a huge change from our first attempt to the final product. We spent the majority of our time in frees and after school editing so we were able to see the progress we had made with after every session.

Weekly Reflection Post: 1-5/12/2014 (KC)
We had booked Drama for 2nd and 4th December, ensuring that there would be no events where anything could go wrong.
On the 2nd, we filmed the boys. We set up the stage and gave it a checked pattern of black and brown; to give the 1920's style. We then set up the lights, with help from our teachers, in the correct position to ensure that the boys didn't look washed out. This session went a lot more smoothly and we achieve a lot more than we expected. The boys performed better than in any other session, they knew the words and were more themselves, they had charisma. As they were more comfortable, they sang the song instead of miming it and it was a lot more realistic.
We filmed 9 shots, from 3 different angles. We were unable to get any shots from the right, so when it came to editing it looked a little odd. However, we had a lot more variety of clips to choose from and it made it easier to edit with. The shots were filmed four/five times and we filmed the boys performing the whole of the song.
The session was a success, and the performance aspect of the Video was complete. We booked Drama on the 4th again, to film Bekki's part (and the balloons). We blew the balloons up, trying to get them to the same size as possible, and emptied them out on and around the stage. Bekki was alone, as the boys couldn't film the same day as Bekki did. So we improvised and made the narrative about her 'messing' around in the balloons. By the end of the session, we were able to say that we completed the filming of the Music Video.
On the 5th December, Michelle and I spent most of the day editing the Music Video, as we were managed to finish editing, we were unable to upload the Video. So we asked if it was possible to upload on the 8th.

Weekly Reflection Post: 24-28/11/2014 (KC)
Due to the extension on the Draft Deadline, we were told that there was an extension for the Final Deadline to 5th December. This gave us more time.
Additionally, we booked the Hall for 24th and 27th, however on the 24th we received an email that they Estates had to cancel our session due to an urgent meeting. We managed to get Drama and filmed just the boys, as Bekki was unable to attend. We got a lot done, however, whilst we were in the process of transferring the footage from the Camera to the Mac we lost all the footage and were basically back to square one - having no footage at all.

Updated Twitter Account (KC)
@KBMA4
After filming and building a numerous amount of images to have access to, we have completed our Twitter Page. We have ensured that there is a display picture clearly indicating the boys authenticity. It is evident there are two sides to this Twitter Page, the 'header' is an image of the boys in between filming, being themselves, and the 'display picture' is a screenshot from the music video in character. This will enable the audience to visual the two sides of the boys and get to personally know them.

Update / Changes (All)
As a group, we decided that our original idea/ storyboard wasn't practical. The idea consisted of spending a lot of money and time, which we are both short on. We then discussed on how we can simplify the Music Video according to our budget. The conclusion we all came to was that when it comes down to filming again we are going to record the performance as many times as we can and making sure that we have enough footage/shots to make our video fast-paced when it comes down to editing it. Alongside this, we have decided to go with another story/narrative idea that involves a lot of balloons and our main actors/extras. I think that we can get a stable amount of footage from the two days that we are filming again if we incorporate the advice we had been given and from what we have learnt from this process.

Weekly Reflection Post: 17-21/11/2014 (KC)
Harry still wasn't able to make another session, we were ready to film and were organised. As Michelle kindly bought the boys costumes. Johnny managed to turn up to the session, but Cam went home. We had to call the session of again, as we were unable to film without both the boys being present.
We were unable to film, once again, although the Final Deadline was a few weeks away yet; it was evident that we were poorly organised and we were bad at communicating.
