Although, we had the location for the Music Video and we knew that it was going to be performance and narrative. Through lots of discussion, we decided upon a narrative for the story. After analysing the Video, it was evident that we were attempting to 'replicate' it as closely as possible. This was apparent to us; so we decided upon a narrative that was different to the one in the Video.
We experienced some problems as one of the lead guys (Joe Loomes) dropped out of the Video last minute. This problem is fixable, as we can find another guy who fits our genre. The other lead guy, who is permanent throughout the filming process, is Johnny Batson. We managed to find a lead girl who is Bekki Green.
The Costume for the lead girl had been decided and we are ordering a dress this week. The dress is white, and has a modern 1920's twist to it. The guys are borrowing suits for the Music Video. We decided upon a white shirt, tucked in, with a black jacket and jeans; to portray a smart/casual look.
The location has been booked for 8th and 15th October. On the 8th October, we are going to film the lead guys performing on the stage. We are going to get them to sing the entire song. On the 15th October, the narrative is going to be filmed including the lead girls. This will be easier when we go to edit the Music Video.

Actual Music Video Idea (KC)
ACTUAL MUSIC VIDEO IDEA
- After discussing and re-evaluating the aspirations for our Music Video, we came to the conclusion that our original idea of a 1920s, Great Gatsby themed party, won't work out as planned. There are many reasons for this, one of the most crucial reasons is due to the lack of facilities that we need; in order achieve this style. Another significant reason is the financial issue. We aren't able to afford a well executed Music Video that consists of this theme. The Mise en Scene would have to be perfect for out audience to be able to distinguish the theme of our Music Video.
- The decision that was made, after our discussion, is that we still contain aspects of the 1920s, Great Gatsby theme. The Music Video will be performance and narrative. The performance aspect will be the boys on stage, and the narrative will be the 'lead' lady. It will be based in a 21st Century party where everyone, including the band, will be dressed in modern day clothing (apart from the 'lead' lady). The 'lead' lady's Costume will be a 'classic' 1920s dress that will ineffectively put the spotlight on her and depict the stereotypical idea of the 'classic' girl.
- We are in the current process in creating a Storyboard of the Music Video, which we will be using when filming. It will give a clearer vision of what will be happening in the Video. There will be precise and concise details (down to the exact second) of which camera angle should be used in which frame and whether it should be performance or narrative.

Analysing Original Music Video (KC)
We have decided to base our music video on an existing video by MKTO called 'Classic'. The most appealing aspect of this music video was the 1920s 'Great Gatsby' theme, the title of the music video reflects the title of the song. Due to the running 1920s theme throughout the music video, we decided upon basing our music video to the existing one. In order to achieve this, we took screen shots throughout the course of the video; so that we are able to incorporate as much as we could into our own.
The costume, hair and makeup of the Actress indicates the type of clothing that we are going to be needing for our music video. This girl is wearing a fibre dress, with (what looks like to be) silk above the elbow gloves and silver, elegant jewelry. Her hair is short, tight curls. The makeup is iconic 1920s, with a vibrant, attractive lipstick colour. The overall colour effect in this shot, gives off a 1920s feel; it would almost be like they were going back in time to this particular era.
The suits that the two lead, male singers are wearing are quite traditional and contemporary suits, meaning that not only does this video have classical/iconic aspects, it does very much so stick to the features that people will recognise. I think that we should take these features and apply it to our own music video. Our equivalent of the backdrop curtain, would be to use Drama. The tuxedos we will be able to have access to, as the males we will use could provide their own or we could rent one out.
We screenshotted this due to the effect used. The sepia effect is used in movies where they edit in a flashback of the 1920s . We can use this lighting and incorporate it in our music video. In our music video, we would like to have a 1920s theme to run throughout the video; even if they are subtle due to the title of the song.
These screenshots shows the glamorous lifestyle of the wealthy in 1920s. It was the notorious era for alcohol, gambling and rebelling in general. All of these changes are shown in this video, due to the theme. Our music video will include some of these changes, but not to the extent that it occurs in this video.
In the music video, the audience can see/hear that in the song they are showing the ‘classic’ girls from each era. These screenshots show other female viewers that these girls are the eras’ version of ‘classic’. It is evident that in the particular part of the song, they are illustrating the eras they are going through; portraying that in the deliberate choice in costumes and props.
Here you can see that they are ‘modern’ aspects of young adults/teenagers breakdancing in the midst of a crowd. There are also counting money and dancing in it as if it were confetti. It is evident that the music video, lyrically and visually, begins from the 1920s and goes through all of the eras. It also refers the classic singers of that particular era.
