Actor Changes (MK)

Before filming began, we had to make a change in our lead actors due to the fact that in the end they weren't exactly suitable for our style and the theme we were trying to portray. In the end we decided to choose Cam Letts and Jonny Batson to take up the roles. We thought that their friendship would rub off on the theme we were trying to portray and would make the process run a lot easier in regards to making the video look and act exciting alongside our choice of song.

Weekly Reflection Post: 22-26/09/2014 (Whole Group-Scribe KC)

Although, we had the location for the Music Video and we knew that it was going to be performance and narrative. Through lots of discussion, we decided upon a narrative for the story. After analysing the Video, it was evident that we were attempting to 'replicate' it as closely as possible. This was apparent to us; so we decided upon a narrative that was different to the one in the Video.

We experienced some problems as one of the lead guys (Joe Loomes) dropped out of the Video last minute. This problem is fixable, as we can find another guy who fits our genre. The other lead guy, who is permanent throughout the filming process, is Johnny Batson. We managed to find a lead girl who is Bekki Green.

The Costume for the lead girl had been decided and we are ordering a dress this week. The dress is white, and has a modern 1920's twist to it. The guys are borrowing suits for the Music Video. We decided upon a white shirt, tucked in, with a black jacket and jeans; to portray a smart/casual look.

The location has been booked for 8th and 15th October. On the 8th October, we are going to film the lead guys performing on the stage. We are going to get them to sing the entire song. On the 15th October, the narrative is going to be filmed including the lead girls. This will be easier when we go to edit the Music Video.

Appearance: Hair and Make-up (MK)

In our music video we are aiming to portray one of the women as 'Classic'. To do this, they will be 'made-over' to look 'modern but traditional'. We think that before we make any decisions, we'll have to do some research into what hair would look appropriate for the theme of our music video, as well as make-up for our leading girl.

During the party scene, the make-up and hair won't be as prioritized as the main girl, however, we will make them look appropriate for the situation. The majority will have their hair normally and minimal make-up. We think that this is appropriate due to the fact that we want all of the attention to be on our main girl.

We have decided that we are going to keep the make-up the same as the girl in our video, which means that we will have to experiment/talk to our leading girl (Bekki) about styles, using make-up, we can recreate. Above is a photo of Bekki in her casual wear, this gives us a 'blank canvas' of how we can style her when it comes to shooting.

Finding a Leading Lady (HA)

We have found a leading lady for our video. I knew someone that is part of AS Drama and that was willing to perform in front of a camera. She fits the description that we were looking for and mentioned in the 'Song Choice' blog post. The whole group has agreed that she has the style and poise that was needed for the leading lady of the video and that she was similar to the one found in the MKTO video that we were inspired by.
Below is a picture of the girl (Bekki Green) and also what she will be wearing-

Storyboard 1 [1-8] (MK)

(Click photos to enlarge for more detail)

I illustrated the first 8 boxes of our storyboard, this is in order for us to fully understand, shot for shot, what is going to happen in the music video. As a group, we discussed possible ideas for the narrative part of the video - that being from hosting a party, we then initially decided to stick with the idea of the two guys 'fighting' for the lead girl. Although we are  always referring back to MKTO's video for 'Classic' as a template, we are not copying it completely. We think that it is a good way of making sure that we do things at the right time. Those changes being that we make sure we do an 'illustration' type of video - making sure that the imagery tells a story and works alongside the music we have picked. In regards to the first 6 shots, we are introducing the viewers to what they are about to see - this involving the main girl and our two leading boys. As you can see from the scans, I have included the most important information to make sure that on the day we know how long the shot must last, the order of the shots and the lyrics in that specific time frame.

Twitter Account Update (KC)

We have changed the header to a temporary one, to a red curtain. The reason being for this header is that the curtain appears a numerous amount of times within the music video. Furthermore, red curtains were popular in the 1920's as they held shows and used that as their background. Once we have a taken a professional looking photo of the two lead guys, we will upload that as the profile picture for KBMA's Twitter Page. For our header, we have decided to place an advertisement.
The professional photo will be taken at the first filming of the music video. This is because the two guys will be dressed up, so we are going to take the opportunity to take photo whilst they are in costume.
