Comparing Band Members / Artist Profile (MK)

  • For our band, we have decided to pick two males as lead singers. We feel like this is the most appropriate match for our target market due to the fact that it will contribute to the 'male gaze' theory, and could attract a female following because of it.
  • We found that our chosen 'models' appropriately fit our genre because they fit the conventions of looking good, and the fact that they will suitably look good in our chosen costumes we pick out for them to wear in the music video.
  • We will make sure that many differences are made to make the video look physically pleasing for our target audience, this is the most important feature. We looked at other existing artists that work alongside our inspired artist (MKTO) and have noticed that our models support the persona of being friends and musical partners, I think that we should incorporate this factor when deciding the 'storyline' for our music video.

  • We need to be able to style our two band members to work alongside the theme we have chosen for our music video; 1920s/Great Gatsby. Many of the clothes that the boys wear in their spare time can be found in local high street brands, which means that they could be considered as 'style icons' to our target audience.
  • Finally, we made sure that the models we have chosen are confident in front of the camera, professional and stylish to make sure that the music video is enjoyable to view. To make sure of this, we will have to dedicate time and understanding into their clothing choices, make-up and overall 'persona' during the video; all contributes to creating a story on stage.

  1. Michelle, well done on being on top of your tasks. As this is a group effort it is imperative that you all upload or link to your summer homework. Failure to submit three detailed analysis of music videos each will result in a very low grade.
