Securing a Location and Location Information (HA)

After visiting the Estates team following the email sent on 18th September, we are close to securing the location on two separate dates- 8th October and 15th October. The venue will be the school stage in which we will have full access to the lighting rig and also the follow spot which is located above the stage. We will use these lights to create a party atmosphere and use the follow spot to pick out our leading lady. We want to have an amateur style feeling to the video. When we say amateur we are aiming for a video that, in its final product, feels authentic and realistic. 

There are some imperfections to the venue but these can be removed by using a black sheet of plastic which could already be down on the floor as there is a visiting company putting on a show at the time of filming.  There are also some, what looks like, chalk markings on the wall but these will come out if they are rubbed. We are aware that we have already stated that we want the video to look authentic and realistic but we want to create that realism ourselves and not have distracting features such as writing on a wall which would draw the attention away from the leading male or female performers in the video.

The venue also included a much needed feature which is found in the MKTO video that we were inspired by; a curtain. This curtain will be the first thing the viewer sees and will set the tone for the rest of the video. The large draped red curtain is elegant as offers the link to the 1920's that we were looking for. This also acts as a natural transition to another part of the video which will introduce the viewer to the party where the majority of the video will be taking place. This natural transition will help the flow of the video and make it more entertaining for the viewer to watch. 

We have come up against a hurdle that we are currently trying to get around and that is the fact that we have to have someone to supervise us whilst we are using the hall, the sound system and also the lighting. Because most staff do not have hours allocated after school time we will have to find someone that does. Luckily enough, the initial person that we thought could help us knows someone that could. Hopefully he will be able to supervise us when we are around the follow spot and also the lighting system.


















I will be operating the lights as I am experienced in lighting technology and we will have to find someone to help operate the follow spot as I will have to be on the lighting desk with the main lights. The sound will also be operated by me but this will not be a big job as it will just be for the leads to mime from. This music will not be heard in the draft and final edit of the video as the track will be played over the top of the footage.
