Acting on Feedback (Whole Group- Scribe-HA)

  • Our group discussed the music video idea and we decided upon a change in direction. The original idea was the Great Gatsby, however there were economic issues  that restricted us from continuing with our initial idea.
  • I (Harry) suggested that we created a Great Gatsby style party which would take place in the present day and include people dressed in 1920’s style fancy dress costumes. I thought that we should have one female actress that would stand out from the crowd in a similar dress to the one found in the original video of MKTO’s Classic. This would suit the genre of the song however it would confuse the viewer because they would be questioning why the people at the party are wearing the Gatsby themed costumes when it is present day. Our mentor also disagreed with this idea because of the confusing nature of the video. However he did like the concept of there being one girl that stands out from all the rest and that she is dressed differently to all the other girls. This would give the song/video a focus and draw the audiences focus to a certain person/situation.
  • We have decided to create the music video in a present day party retaining the idea of the ‘Classic girl next door’ type of woman. This means that the video is a lot more feasible and will not be as expensive as we can use local locations or even use school facilities meaning that transport etc. will not have to be arranged or paid for. Make up can also be done by the people featured in the video as no special skills for make up is needed. Clothing will not need to be externally supplied as people will already have modern clothing which is needed in the video.
