THE GREAT GATSBY (2013)

"It follows the life and times of millionaire Jay Gatsby and his neighbour Nick, who recounts his encounter with Gatsby at the height of the Roaring Twenties"

The Mise en Scene within this movie depicts the 1920's Great Gatsby glamorous lifestyle. In the background, there are fireworks and a large crowd of people socialising and dancing. The fireworks prove that the parties thrown during the 1920s were in fact lavish and extravagant. The costume that Leonardo DiCaprio is wearing, is the look that we want to portray in our Music Video. The bow tie makes the 1920's style as it can be seen as classy, sophisticated and smart. Champagne can be associated with a 'rich' lifestyle, as it is expensive and stereotypically only those of a wealthy background are able to drink it. Although, when champagne is being drank, the occasion is special; which suggests that every party that was thrown in the 1920s was seen as a special occasion.

The Great Gatsby "achieved the iconic 1920s look by altering pieces from Prada and Miu Miu fashion archives". Martin (the film's costume stylist) says that she made the 1920s style sexier and was trying to interpret it for a modern audience. The men's costumes were authentic. Martin deliberately made the costumes tight fighted, to enhance certain aspects of the women's body; in order to take a modern twist on the era. She also used most of the fashion archives which were concepts of from runways and fashion magazines that were never worn by women in real life.

We were inspired by The Great Gatsby (2013) as it was the most modern version of a 1920s blockbuster. We have taken inspiration from the Mise en Scene, Costumes and Props from this movie.
